Clasical homoeopathy is an alternative form of medicine. There are documented studies going back as far as the sixteenth centuary from Theophrastus von Hohenheim, commonly known by the name of Paracelsus (1493-1541), on Homoeopathy. However the German physician, Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843), is said to be the founder of Homoeopathy.
After over 20 years of research Hahnemann conceived the "law of similars", otherwise known as "let like be cured by like"; Latin: "Similia similibus curentur"as a basic healing principle. He believed that by inducing a disease through use of drugs, the artificial symptoms empowered the vital force to neutralise and expel the original disease and that this artificial disturbance would naturally subside when the dosing ceased. It is based on the idea that a substance that in large doses will produce symptoms of a specific disease will, in extremely small doses, cure it. The undiluted preparations cause certain symptoms in healthy individuals.
They are then diluted and vigorously shaken and perscribed in the treatment of diseases which cause similar symptoms. The highter "potencies" contain none of the original substance.
I was first introduced to Homoeopathy in the early eighties. I was fascinated by my studies therof and found it a valuable tool for treating everyday complaints and akute symptoms of illness. I have continued to use Homoeopathy for my family, pets and in my practice since then.
After taking the medical history of my patient, I look for the remedy which best suit his / her mind, soul and body. This substance can be used alongside classical medical treatments.
